MOSCOW, Jun 25 (PRIME) -- The Russian government has decided not to prolong an agreement on control of fuel prices, business daily Vedomosti reported Tuesday citing four employees of various oil firms and two government officials.
The decision was made at a meeting held by First Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak with oil companies on June 17. Sources said that the sides however have orally agreed that growth of prices on the outdoor wholesale market and gas filling stations will not exceed inflation.
Representatives of the Energy Ministry, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, and major oil companies declined to comment.
In October 2018, the Energy Ministry, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and 10 large oil companies signed agreements to fix fuel prices until April 2019 and raise domestic fuel sales by 3% on the year in the period. On April 5, the government prolonged the agreements until the end of June without any significant changes.
